"It is what decays that sharpens it."
96KURo-design is a brand that uses black as its base color to reconstruct the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi in the modern era. Our concept lies in the past when Japanese aesthetics were born.
The brand logo, "rot2n edges," is a coined word meaning the sharpness of decay. The origin of the word is the insertion of the "2" (to), which translates from decay to sharpness, representing the edge that appears after being scraped away by the wear and tear of time. It does not simply refer to aging, but rather to the "essential outline" that is left after the unnecessary elements have been stripped away by the wear and tear of time. It is a quiet sharpness that stands out precisely because it has decayed. The edges, where the surface has been scraped away and exposed, are engraved with the time itself, not trends.
The "96" at the top of the logo embodies Eastern ideas such as yin and yang, circulation, and reincarnation by placing the number "9," which symbolizes "ending," and the number "6," which represents "harmony and rebirth," in a minimalist composition. Stripping away, letting go, and arranging. This cycle brings beauty into sharp focus.
The symbol at the bottom of the logo is a reconstructed design that inherits the geometric beauty of the "ma" (space) found in Japanese architecture and traditional "kamon" (family crests). The tension and silence created by the intersections and white space express the presence of 96KURo-design.
